Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced a dominating performance with the bat in the first innings of match number 16 of IPL 2024 played at ADCA VDCA Stadium, Vizag on 3rd April.

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. After a cautious start, Sunil Narine and Phil Salt showed intent right from the word go putting enough pressure on Delhi Capitals bowlers. KKR openers put on 60 runs in 4.3 overs laying a strong platform for a massive total. At the end of the first six overs, KKR raced away to 88 for 1.

Narine decimated Delhi Capitals’ bowling smashing them to all parts of the ground. He smashed fifty off 21 balls. Angriksh Raghuvanshi came as an impact player and showed his class too with big shots putting DC bowlers under immense pressure. At the end of the first timeout, KKR raced away to 126 for 1.

Narine kept the momentum going for KKR along with Raghuvanshi which kept Delhi Capitals bowlers under severe pressure. Narine’s superb innings ended dismissed by Mitchell Marsh for 85. Narine and Raghuvanshi added 104 runs for the 2nd wicket. Raghuvanshi also fell after completing his maiden fifty off 25 balls.

Andre Russell came to the crease putting enough pressure on Delhi Capitals bowlers with his explosive hitting. Shreyas Iyer joined in the party with some lusty hits. At the end of the second timeout, KKR ended at 205 for 3.

After the timeout, Russell displayed an attacking display and never allowed them to settle. Iyer and Russell added 56 runs for the 4th wicket. Rinku Singh showed his class with a quickfire knock smashing 26 off just 8 deliveries. Singh and Russell added 32 runs for the 5th wicket. Russell’s cameo ended with a brilliant yorker by Ishant Sharma.

It was a dominating performance by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batters as they made 272 for 7 in 20 overs.
