Jasprit Bumrah added another milestone to his remarkable career during Mumbai Indians’ recent IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In this match, Mumbai Indians won easily by seven wickets, but the spotlight was on Bumrah’s personal achievement.
He dismissed Heinrich Klaasen, the wicketkeeper-batsman of Sunrisers Hyderabad, and with this wicket, Bumrah completed 300 wickets in T20 cricket. This was a historic moment as he became the fastest Indian fast bowler to reach this milestone. Bumrah took only 237 innings to claim 300 wickets in T20s, making him the third-fastest bowler in the world to achieve this feat.
Among the Best in the World
Globally, only two bowlers have reached the 300-wicket mark quicker than Bumrah. Australia’s Andrew Tye leads the list, having reached 300 wickets in just 208 innings. He is followed by Sri Lanka’s legendary bowler Lasith Malinga, who completed the same number of wickets in 217 innings.
Bumrah, by doing it in 237 innings, has joined this elite list and further established his reputation as one of the world’s top bowlers in T20 Cricket. His performance continues to highlight his consistency, skill, and ability to perform under pressure, especially in shorter formats of the game where maintaining such figures is highly challenging.
Matching Legends in the MI Camp
Apart from his overall T20 record, Bumrah also reached another personal milestone in the IPL. With the wicket of Klaasen, he completed 170 wickets for Mumbai Indians, the team he has represented throughout his IPL career. This achievement makes him the joint-highest wicket-taker for the Mumbai franchise, sharing the record with Lasith Malinga.
However, there is a small difference between the two: while Bumrah reached 170 wickets in 138 innings, Malinga did it faster, in only 122 innings. Still, this shows Bumrah’s significant contribution to Mumbai Indians over the years. He continues to be one of the most reliable bowlers for the team and a major reason for their success. These records show that Bumrah is not only maintaining his form but also making history, both for his team and for Indian cricket.
