Punjab Kings (PBKS) had a terrific 11-run victory on March 13, 2023, against the Gujarat Titans in another high-scoring affair where they defended an astounding 243/5. Sai Sudharsan (74 off 41) and Jos Buttler (54 off 33) gave it their best shot, but they could only muster 232/5 in their 20 overs. Therefore, while the victory has been vital for Punjab’s points in the campaign, it is expected that the Gujarat Titans will soon return to winning ways.
Shashank Singh’s last-over carnage against Mohammed Siraj truly won a high-octane thriller with energy, as PBKS thwarted GT. Siraj was entrusted with bowling the all-important 20th over for PBKS’ innings and got milked badly by Shashank with as many as five fours, one double, and a wide for a total of 23 runs of that over.
1. Shreyas Iyer’s Glitzy Performance
Playing his first game for PBKS, Shreyas Iyer illuminated Ahmedabad with his glitzy knock. He was pretty much unfazed and showed tremendous strike ability in his knock of 42 balls with an unbeaten run score. The most productive shot for this batsman was the pull, and he scored 28 runs out of 97 from that shot. He finished with his highest IPL score and went on to score phenomenal runs of 243 in the match.
2. Shashank Singh’s Last-Over Finish
His last over carnage against Mohammed Siraj came as a game-changer. Shashank Singh managed to portray very aggressive batting in the last overs to put Punjab Kings on a big score as he took 23 runs from the final over. Even this seemed like a pressure-building moment for the Gujarat Titans, as they had to chase an enormous total.
3. Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishores Bowls Splendidly vs PBKS
Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore was the best bowler from Gujarat Titans during the match with wonderful figures of 3/30. He was the only bowler amongst GT to have achieved an economy rate of sub 10 and showed how talented and skillful he was to keep the opposition in check. Although all these were, however, not enough to win the match for GT, he was valuable for the team nonetheless.
