IPL 2025: Vaibhav Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest Ever IPL Debutant

In a historic moment for the Indian Premier League, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut for the Rajasthan Royals against the Lucknow Super Giants. At just 14 years and 23 days, he became the youngest player ever to feature in an IPL match. Despite the pressure, Suryavanshi showed remarkable confidence, smashing a six off his very first delivery, bowled by Shardul Thakur.

He went on to score a blazing 34 runs off just 20 balls, hitting three sixes and two boundaries. While fans were eagerly hoping to see him reach a half-century, his promising innings came to an end when he was dismissed by Aiden Markram. The young batter was visibly emotional as he left the field, with many fans noting tears in his eyes—a powerful display of passion and dedication from the young star.

RR’s Brave Chase Falls Just Short

Rajasthan Royals’ run-chase of 181 got off to a flying start, thanks to the aggressive opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and the debutant Suryavanshi. Jaiswal targeted bowlers like Shardul Thakur and Aiden Markram, while Suryavanshi went after Avesh Khan. The Royals reached 50 runs in just 4.3 overs and were sitting comfortably at 61/0 after the powerplay.

Suryavanshi was particularly impressive against spin, handling deliveries from Ravi Bishnoi and Digvesh Rathi easily. However, a surprise move from LSG—bringing in Markram’s part-time spin—led to Suryavanshi’s dismissal, with RR at 85/1 in 8.4 overs. Jaiswal registered his fourth fifty of the season, continuing his stellar form.

Avesh Khan Seals the Win for LSG

Despite the strong start and the heroics from their top order, the Rajasthan Royals fell just short in a thrilling finish. In the final over, LSG pacer Avesh Khan kept his cool, defending the narrow margin with great skill. RR lost the match by just two runs in a nail-biting contest at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The defeat left the Rajasthan Royals in the eighth spot on the points table, with two wins and six losses. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants solidified their position in the top four, with five wins from eight games. Though RR couldn’t clinch the win, Suryavanshi’s memorable debut won the hearts of cricket fans across the country.
