Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) leg-spinner Suyash Sharma outfoxed Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Shashank Singh during Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025 on Thursday, May 29. The match is underway at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
Batting first, PBKS suffered a disastrous start, losing five wickets within the first seven overs. Suyash was introduced in the ninth over and made an immediate impact by dismissing Shashank Singh on his second delivery. Shashank attempted a slog sweep but misread the googly, missing the ball completely as it crashed into the stumps.
He managed just three runs from five balls before heading back to the pavilion. Suyash Sharma celebrated in style, showcasing his version of the popular “I’m here” gesture. You can watch the video here:

RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first — a decision that paid off instantly. Pacer Yash Dayal struck early, removing PBKS opener Priyansh Arya for just 9 runs, followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissing Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 18 off 10 balls.
RCB’s pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood further tightened the grip with a double blow, sending Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer and fellow Aussie Josh Inglis back to the pavilion for 2 and 8 runs, respectively, leaving PBKS supporters stunned.
Suyash Sharma Bags Second Wicket, Sends Debutant Musheer Packing
Musheer Khan made his IPL debut in this match, coming in as an impact substitute for PBKS during a dramatic top-order collapse. However, the 20-year-old couldn’t make a mark in the high-stakes encounter, falling for a three-ball duck. His dismissal came on the second-last delivery of the ninth over while trying to play a sweep shot off Suyash Sharma.
Musheer missed the ball, which struck his pad, and was ruled out LBW by on-field umpire Michael Gough. Although he reviewed the decision, ball-tracking confirmed all three reds, forcing him to depart without scoring. RCB bowlers delivered a dominant performance in Qualifier 1.
At the time of reporting, PBKS were struggling at 83/8 after 12 overs, with Azmatullah Omarzai (5*) and Harpreet Brar (3*) at the crease.
