Ishant Sharma And Bhuvneshwar Likely To Miss India’s Tour of Australia

The Indian Cricket Team might just suffer a huge blow as Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are most likely to be ruled out of India’s tour of Australia as they sustained injuries during the 2020 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) held in the United Arab Emirates.

Ishant Sharma was associated with the Delhi Capitals played just one match after which he sustained an abdominal muscle tear whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s vice-captain was ruled out due to a thigh injury.

Ishant Sharma who wasted no time in order to be fully fit headed straight to National Cricket Academy in Bangalore where he has been working with the coaches at the NCA to regain full fitness in time. On the other hand, there is no update on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s injury status.

If both fail to recover in time, it will be a huge loss for team India as both bowlers have been star performers for India in overseas tour. Moreover, India could’ve hugely benefitted with Ishant Sharma’s bowling on the Australian pitches as they offer the much-needed bounce which is quite suited to Ishant’s style of bowling.

Ishant Sharma Unlikely To Be Fit On-Time: BCCI Official

According to a report in Times of India, Ishant Sharma is expected to be ruled out of the Australian tour as its highly unlikely that he will be able to recover in time. The BCCI source also mentioned that Ishant was quite happy that former India Physio Patrick Farhart was looking after him.

“It’s highly unlikely Ishant will be fit in time for the tour. He was happy that former India physio Patrick Farhart was looking after him at Capitals in Dubai. But since he is a BCCI-contracted player, he had to go to NCA,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by TOI.

The Selection panel headed by Sunil Joshi is soon expected to announce a mega squad of 30 members. With both Ishant and Bhuvneshwar not available we might just see surprise inclusions in the form of Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini and Shivam Mavi as their names are in the talks ever since their highly impressive performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
