It’s been a year ever since MS Dhoni played his last competitive game. As days pass by his uncertainty over returning to the national side keeps growing. Few pundits have already ruled out Dhoni’s return. the former India captain has been on a leave of absence since the World cup semi-final game.

Subramaniam Badrinath, who played under Dhoni during his time at the Chennai Super Kings, feels that Dhoni who’s had a lot of trouble with his back during his playing career should soon decide depending on the toll his body can take.

MS Dhoni should decide on his career soon – Badrinath

“It’s important he chooses. His body is also something that has gone through quite a bit. There’s a reason why he doesn’t play first-class cricket or Test cricket because his back has also troubled him. It happens with any keeper, once you’ve played so much cricket under so much stress,”  S Badrinath told Hindustan Times.

Subramaniam Badrinath, who also made his Test debut under MS Dhoni is of the opinion that it should be left to Dhoni to decide what he wants. He wants the former India skipper to understand the amount of cricket left in him before taking the necessary call.

“He’s probably taking stock of how much he’s left in him. A player of his calibre, nobody should decide whether he should play the T20 World Cup, he should play IPL. It’s up to MS to decide what he wants to decide. Right now, there is too much speculation going around as well, most of it is not true.” he said.

The ‘Thala’ of Chennai Super Kings was looking to make his return to competitive cricket with the 2020 IPL. With the competition now suspended indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s just left to see what MS Dhoni decides in the upcoming months.
