The fast bowler of India Jasprit Bumrah is often regarded as one of IPL products. A section of people feels that Bumrah was brought into the Indian team only because of his performances in the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians. However, the fast bowler bursts the myth during his conversation with Yuvraj Singh.

Jasprit Bumrah first hogged the limelight through his unconventional bowling action during his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2013. The then 19-year-old Bumrah picked 3 wickets in his debut game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Later, he went on to become one of the finest in Indian cricket.

I did well in the domestic circuit – Jasprit Bumrah

During an Instagram live session with former India all-rounder, Bumrah said that it was his consistent performance in domestic matches that helped him break into the senior side.

“That I made it to the Indian team by my performances in the IPL is a myth. 2013 is when I came into the IPL (for Mumbai Indians) in 2013 and then 2014, 2015 I was not playing regularly. I did well in (Vijay) Hazare and in the domestic circuit then I came into the Indian team in 2016,” Bumrah told Yuvraj.

You have to play Test Cricket:

Bumrah made his ODI and T20I debut in 2016 with a Test call-up coming in 2018. The 26-year old is now regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the business with 104 wickets in ODIs from 64 games and 68 scalps in just 14 Test matches.

“Bowlers come up to me and say ODI, T20 Thik hai (ODIs, T20I is okay). But they forget, Tests make you a complete cricketer. You have to play Test cricket to survive in the long run,” Bumrah said.

Jasprit Bumrah was last seen in the action during India’s tour of New Zealand. He failed to make the most of the tour after making a comeback from injury.
