Jos Buttler Appointed As England’s Limited-Overs Captain

Jos Buttler has been appointed as the white-ball captain of England men cricket team. Butter would be leading England in One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals. Recently, Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international owing to poor form and fitness issues, leaving the captaincy position vacant. It would be an exciting opportunity for Jos to prove his worth as the leader and a captain.

Jos Buttler was delighted and thankful after being appointed as captain. He thanked Eoin Morgan for the priceless work he performed as leader of England over the years. Butter said that it was fantastic to play under Eoin Morgan. Jos believes that it’s going to be exciting times ahead for England in white ball cricket.

He has been an inspirational leader, and it has been fantastic to play under him. There are lots of things that I have learnt from him that I’ll take into this role. It is a great honour to take over from Eoin, and the place he has left English white-ball cricket in is exciting, and I’m inspired for the challenges ahead,” Buttler said in a statement.

Eoin Morgan recently announced his retirement from International Cricket on 28th June , 2022. The southpaw was instrumental in reviving England’s limited-overs team after a disappointing performance in the 2015 World Cup. He brought in a change of culture and how the game was played that guided the side to their maiden ODI World Cup four years down the lane. 


“There is excellent depth in white ball squad “: Jos Buttler on future of England in white ball cricket 

Jos Buttler so far has captained England in nine ODIs and five T20Is. He was also the captain against Netherlands in the final ODI in absence of Morgan. The first challenge for Buttler as captain would be the three match T20I series and three match ODI series against India. Later, England will also face South Africa in white ball series in July.

There is excellent strength-in-depth in the white-ball squads, and I’m looking forward to leading the teams out for the series that are coming up against India starting next week and later in July against South Africa. It is the greatest honour to captain your country,” Buttler concluded.
