Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets at Eden Gardens in the 1st Qualifier of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With this win, the Titans reached the finals of IPL 2022. David Miller and Hardik Pandya were the shining stars for Gujarat in this win.

While chasing the target of 189 runs, the Titans didn’t get a good start. Trent Boult dismissed Wriddhiman Saha in the first over of the run chase. But Matthew Wade and Shubhman Gill played with a positive intent in the powerplay. Gill changed gears in the final over of the powerplay, taking on Ravichandran Ashwin.

Gujarat scored almost 60 runs in the powerplay. But soon they lost wickets of set batsman Gill and Wade and were in trouble. But Hardik Pandya and David Miller added a match-winning stand of 106 runs to take the team home.

Hardik played an impactful knock of 40 runs in 27 balls which included five fours. While David Miller smashed 68 runs in 38 balls. In the last over, the Titans needed 16 runs to win with Prasidh Krishna bowling the last over. Miller hit the first three balls for three sixes to finish the game for Gujarat Titans.

“I am understanding my game better” – David Miller on his amazing form in IPL 2022

The veteran South African batter has been in breathtaking form in the ongoing IPL season. He has finally arrived in the IPL after a few unsuccessful seasons with Punjab Kings. David Miller grabbed the player of the match award for his innings. Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, he said:

“If it’s in the V, it’s in the tree. If it is in the arc, it’s out of the park. I have been given a good role and given an extended run. Have good backing from the outside. For my personal game, I am enjoying my role. I have played for a long time but I am understanding my game better.”
