Kolkata Knight Riders wicket-keeper batter, Sheldon Jackson was referred to as a foreign player during a discussion in a video about the playing XI of the KKR franchise. Jackson was picked by the franchise for INR 60 Lakhs in the 2022 IPL auctions.

In a video, which went viral on social media, Jackson was called a foreign player by a journalist. After the incident, Sheldon Jackson retweeted a google maps picture that shows the state of Saurashtra.

The tweet lists down are the batters with most centuries in Ranji Trophy, who were born in Saurashtra. Sheldon Jackson is second on the list with 17 centuries, while Cheteshwar Pujara tops the list with 21 centuries for Saurashtra.

“Most Ranji Trophy Century by Saurashtra-born player. (Ranjitsinhji birth place) 21: Cheteshwar Pujara 17: Sheldon Jackson. Only Pujara has scored more hundreds than Sheldon,” read the tweet.

Journalist Rahul Rawat issues clarification

Meanwhile, Rahul Rawat, a panel member in the video has issued a clarification regarding the same. He requested the fans to watch the whole video. Rawat added that he is well aware of Sheldon Jackson’s achievements.

Rahul Rawat tweeted, “Nowhere during this clip or during the entire show did I ever mention Sheldon Jackson as a foreign player. My bad I didn’t realize when he got called an overseas entrant. Pls go through the entire show because I am very well aware of Sheldon’s achievements for Indian cricket.” 

Sheldon has been a prolific run-getter for Saurashtra over the years. He has scored 5947 runs at an average of over 50 in first-class cricket. Sheldon’s statistics include 19 centuries and 31 fifties.

He played a key role in Saurashtra’s title-winning Ranji Trophy campaign in the 2019/20 season.
