Kochi Tuskers Kerala Players Yet To Receive 35% Of Their Money, Alleges Brad Hodge

Former Kochi Tuskers Kerala all-rounder Brad Hodge has made a startling revelation saying that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to clear their dues. The comments come at a time when the governing body is already marred with criticisms for not clearing the payments of women cricketers for the T20 World Cup last year.

BCCI had expanded the T2 league to 10 teams for the 2011 edition. Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India were added to the group of teams for the season to expand the league. However, after just one season, the Kochi Tuskers franchise’s contract was terminated by the BCCI as they failed to pay a bank guarantee after a dispute among multiple owners.

Brad Hodge takes jibe at BCCI over payment issues

Former Australia batsman Brad Hodge on May 24 (Monday) cheekily enquired if BCCI has been able to “locate” the money that the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala owed him for representing them in the 2011 IPL. The 46-year-old had played 14 games for KTK, scoring 285 runs at an average of 35.63. He was bought by Kochi Tuskers for USD 425,000 at the 2010 auction.

“Players are still owed 35% of their money earned from ten years ago from the @IPL representing Kochi tuskers. Any chance @BCCI could locate that money?” Brad Hodge wrote on Twitter.

Kochi Tuskers Kerala was part of the 2011 Indian Premier League with stars like Brendon McCullum, Brad Hodge S Sreesanth, Ravindra Jadeja, RP Singh, Michael Klinger, Muttiah Muralitharan, VVS Laxman, Thisara Perera, Parthiv Patel, and many others. However, Kochi, captained by Mahela Jayawardene and coached by Geoff Lawson, could not perform well in the only season they participated.

BCCI, however, is yet to comment and the same. It will be interesting to see how things shape up in the coming days.
