Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has tested positive for COVID19. He is the second Kolkata cricketer after New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert to suffer from the deadly virus within two days. Overall, he is the fourth Knight Riders cricketers to suffer from coronavirus – Varun Chakravarthy, Sandeep Warrier, Seifert, and Krishna.

Meanwhile, BCCI decided to halt the 14th edition of the cash-rich league midway after several cases of COVID19 and a potential bio-bubble breach emerged. Two members of Kolkata Knight Riders, one Sunrsiers Hyderabad cricketer, one Delhi Capitals, and three members of Chennai Super Kings tested positive for the deadly virus.

“He is down with COVID-19. The results have come in and he tested positive,” the source said to ANI.

The tall and lanky fast bowler from Karnataka – Prasidh Krishna played seven matches this season scalping eight wickets with the best figures of three for 30. He partnered with Pat Cummins at the top for Kolkata Knight Riders with the new ball. However, Kolkata didn’t have a good IPL 2021 season managing only two wins from seven matches.

Meanwhile, Prasidh Krishna has been picked as a standby player for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final as well as the five-match Test series against England by the BCCI on Friday. He will now have to undergo quarantine and tests negative before undergoing another quarantine with the Indian squad before flying to the UK for the Test series.

The ICC World Test Championship final is scheduled to take place at the Rose Bowl in Southampton starting from June 18 followed by a five-match bilateral Test series against England. Virat Kohli & Co is expected to play a couple of practice games before the Test series starting from August 4.
