In the 2003 World Cup, India and New Zealand met each other in the Super Six stage of World Cup 2003 played in South Africa. The match was played at Super Sports Park, Centurion on 14th March 2003.

Indian captain Sourav Ganguly won the toss and decided to field first. It was a brilliant bowling performance by the Indian team as Zaheer Khan took 4 for 42, Harbhajan Singh 2 for 28, Nehra, Srinath and Sehwag 1 wicket each helped them to bowl out New Zealand for a paltry total of 146 in 45.1 overs.

Chasing the target of 147 runs to win, India lost 3 early wickets at the score of 21. Mohammad Kaif and Rahul Dravid unbeaten 131 runs stand for the 4th wicket, India won the match by 7 wickets with 56 balls to spare.
