Recent reports suggested that Suryakumar Yadav, the T20I captain of the Indian cricket team, was considering leaving Mumbai to play for Goa in domestic cricket. Speculation arose following Yashasvi Jaiswal’s decision to switch from Mumbai to Goa, with claims that Suryakumar might follow suit. However, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has firmly denied these claims, emphasizing that Suryakumar remains loyal to Mumbai cricket.

Mumbai Cricket Association Clarifies the Situation

MCA secretary Abhay Hadap addressed the rumors, stating that the association was aware of the speculation regarding Suryakumar’s alleged move. He confirmed that MCA officials had spoken with Suryakumar and verified that these reports were completely unfounded.

“Suryakumar Yadav is fully committed to Mumbai cricket and takes great pride in representing the team,” Hadap stated. He urged people to stop spreading misinformation and to support the players as they continue to contribute to Mumbai cricket.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Move to Goa and Its Implications

In contrast, Yashasvi Jaiswal has officially decided to leave Mumbai and join Goa for personal reasons. The Mumbai Cricket Association received his request and approved the transfer, marking a significant change in his domestic career.

Jaiswal, who played a crucial role in Mumbai’s cricketing successes, will now represent Goa from the 2025-26 season. He is even being considered for the team’s captaincy. However, given his packed international schedule, it remains uncertain how much time he can dedicate to Goa’s domestic matches.

His last appearance for Mumbai was against Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy, where both he and India captain Rohit Sharma struggled, leading to Mumbai’s defeat.

While Jaiswal’s switch has been confirmed, Suryakumar Yadav remains dedicated to Mumbai, as reiterated by the MCA. The association continues to support its players and urges fans to focus on verified information rather than unverified rumors.
