Mithali Raj is unquestionably one of the great women batters of all time. The legendary cricketer has played a significant role in taking women’s cricket onward in India. Recently Mithali expressed her disappointment when he was dropped from the Indian side before the 2018 T20 world cup semis against England.

Two years later the dedicated women’s cricketer opened up about her axing from the decisive match. Mithali Raj came down hard at the formerly coach Romesh Powar and COA’s Diana Edulji for exposing bias towards her. The 37-year-old stated that she was extremely disappointed when she couldn’t be part of the squad for the big match.

“Honestly, I was quite disappointed that I couldn’t play. But it is something that has happened with every player. I am not the first person with whom this has happened. It is about the team composition and may be captain and coach felt that they had a better player to feed in to the eleven”, Mithali Raj said on Star Sports 1 Telugu show ‘Girl Power – Sarileru Manakevaru.

Meanwhile, India suffered a massive loss in the semi-final against England during that tournament by eight wickets. Mithali Raj was surprisingly omitted even after averaging a brilliant 53.50 in three matches with two fifty-plus scores.

Mithali added that she wanted to be part of the side in the finals and win the World Cup. The star batswoman also stated that she was rooting for her side and wanted to contribute. 

“But I always had hopes that if we win that match, I may have the chance in final, I will be able to contribute, and we have a better chance to win the Cup. That was my intention of reaching out to the players in the huddle to pep them up, ‘give your best you, might not get such chances time and again,” Mithali concluded.
