Tim David displayed remarkable power-hitting, smashing two consecutive sixes in the final over to guide MI New York (MINY) to a total of 155-8 against Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR). David, the Australian batsman, entered the crease in the 13th over when the scorecard read 77-5.
With an unbeaten knock of 48 runs off just 21 balls, he single-handedly propelled the innings during the death overs. After 19 overs, MINY was struggling at 135-8, but Trent Boult provided the much-needed momentum with an unexpected six off the first ball bowled by Andre Russell.
Bowling over the wicket, Russell’s low full-toss was seized by David, who struck it perfectly, sending it sailing over long-on while the fielder could only watch.

For the next delivery, Russell switched to bowling around the wicket but delivered a ball right in the slot, allowing David to effortlessly hit it straight down the ground for another six. Although David couldn’t make it three in a row, managing only a single off the final delivery of the innings, his remarkable performance firmly placed MINY in a commanding position.
In the following overs, the MINY bowling attack put immense pressure on LAKR’s batting lineup right from the powerplay. Nosthush Kenjige dismissed Martin Guptill for a duck in the very first over, while Kagiso Rabada struck twice in the third over.
As of now, LAKR finds itself in a dire situation at 25-4 at the end of seven overs. During the break, Tim David spoke about his brilliant innings, highlighting the importance of partnerships. He mentioned the challenge of facing the spinners, who bowled well, but expressed gratitude for being able to take on the pacers.
David acknowledged that his role is to score runs at the end of the innings, which brings pressure but also offers an exciting stage to perform. He emphasized the team’s need to secure points and the significance of a victory in the upcoming match.
Both MINY and LAKR are aiming to register their first points in Major League Cricket (MLC) after suffering defeats in their inaugural matches.
