The fast bowler from Australia James Pattinson joined Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2020 as a replacement for Lasith Malinga. Incidentally, Malinga pulled out of the cash-rich league owing to personal reasons. Pattinson has already joined the practice session in the UAE and recently named the best T20 bowler in the world.

The Australian pacer will combine with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Trent Boult, and Mitchell McClenaghan in Mumbai. Although it looks difficult to break into the playing XI but James Pattinson is ready to put in the extra yards.

Bumrah is the best T20 bowler in the world – Pattinson

Recently, in a video posted by Mumbai Indians on their official Twitter handle, Pattinson bowled his heart out. He also said bowling alongside the best T20 bowler in the world Jasprit Bumrah is a great learning curve for him.

“Personally it is fantastic to work with some of the best bowlers in the world. Obviously, Bumrah is probably, the best T20 bowler in the world. And Boulty is up there as well. So, for me, it will be a great experience to be around those guys [here at Mumbai Indians].” James Pattinson said.

Meanwhile, James Pattinson also confirmed that the wickets in the UAE are a lot drier than before. As a result, the spinners will come into action a lot. However, Pattinson feels he has the experience to adjust the line and length and deliver the results for Mumbai.

“I’ve played a few one-day internationals here before, so I have gotten a little bit of experience here in the UAE. Look, there are obviously different wickets. They are a lot drier, and there is only three wickets being used during the tournament, so it might be a bit slower and low as the tournament goes on. So, maybe the slower ball and stuff like that might come into play a lot more,” Pattinson said.

“As a fast bowler you are just trying to bang the wicket as hard as possible and change of pace and bowl fast. That’s the thing with T20 cricket,” he added.

Mumbai Indians will begin their IPL 2020 campaign opener against Chennai Super Kings on September 19 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
