Mumbai Indians (MI) are having a rather terrible outing this season in the IPL. The five-time IPL champion has become the first team ever to lose eight consecutive matches. The franchise Mumbai are known to make comebacks after losing their first few matches but this time their chances of qualifications are all but over.

If mathematically calculated, their chances of qualification to the IPL playoffs are 0.00038%. Mumbai Indians yesterday played the Lucknow Super Giants at their Wankhede homecoming. It was a bittersweet feeling as they lost the match by 36 runs.

KL Rahul scored yet another hundred against the Mumbai Indians following up from his last week’s heroics against the same opposition. A major part of their losses have been because of their bowling attack which has been less aggressive.

All the dependence is on Jasprit Bumrah to deliver and which is having a toll on him as well. In yesterday’s match, Krunal Pandya got his former teammate Kieron Pollard’s wicket and gave him a rather unwelcomed send-off.

Parthiv Patel, the former Mumbai Indians and Indian wicketkeeper gave his say on this incident. Parthiv said, “Krunal and Pollard are very good friends, but things are different on the field. Pollard has not been scoring runs. Also, Mumbai have also been on a losing spree. It’s important to give people space at that point. In the dressing room, you can have as much banter as you want for the whole year. But, I feel this reaction was over the top.”

Kieron Pollard’s record in IPL 2022 so far

Kieron Pollard is having a rather terrible season and has scored 115 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 117. Earlier in the match, Pollard had dismissed Krunal for just one. The bowler reacted by standing beside the batter and performing a Kylian Mbappe-style folded-arms celebration.

Mumbai Indians need improvement in almost all departments and need it fast otherwise they are unlikely to taste success anytime soon. Rohit Sharma and Co. will play their next game against Rajasthan Royals on April 30 at the DY Patil Sports Academy.
