The Pakistan Cricket Board named two coaches for the men’s national team. Jason Gillespie has been appointed for a longer format while Gary Kirsten will take the reigns of One-day international and T20Is.

They have been without any coach since the departure of Micky Arthur and Bradburn. Pakistan drew 5 five-match T20I series against the second-string New Zealand side captained by Michael Bracewell. The first match ended with no result. Pakistan then registered a dominating win by six wickets in the 2nd T20I.

Pakistan suffered humiliating defeats in the 3rd and 4th T20I matches before winning the 5th T20I match by 9 runs to level the series at 2-2. Azhar Mahmood who was appointed as an assistant coach for the New Zealand T20I series will continue its post as full-time across all three formats.

The three coaches will be there for two years following the procedure. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi made announcements in a press conference today in Lahore.

“Jason’s coaching career has been marked by success both at the domestic and international levels, with a focus on player development and achieving excellence in team performance. Gary’s coaching career has been marked by his ability to instill a winning mentality, develop young talent, and achieve success at the highest levels of the game, making him one of the most respected and sought-after coaches in cricket,” he  said.
