IPL 2024

Gujarat Titans posted 200 for 3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 28th April 2024. However, RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to field first. Notably, Cameron Green took a stunning catch to dismiss GT captain Gill at long-on in the 7th over.

However, Swapnil Singh got rid of Saha in the first over to put pressure on GT’s batting. Shubman Gill looked subdued with his batting along with Sai Sudharsan with discipline lines and lengths. Gill and Sudharsan added 39 runs for the 2nd wicket before his dismissal. At the end of six overs, GT posted just 42 for 1.

Shahrukh Khan was promoted to number 4 and took charge with some lusty hitting putting RCB under pressure. Sai Sudharsan also looked impressive taking singles and keeping the scoreboard ticking for GT. Both batters made the batting at ease. Shahrukh Khan hit his maiden IPL fifty off just 24 balls to recover GT from a tough situation. Mohammed Siraj produced superb delivery getting the wicket of Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh Khan and Sai added 86 runs for the 3rd wicket.

Sai completed fifty off just 34 balls keeping the momentum going for GT. David Miller also played a vital role in not allowing RCB bowlers to settle. The left-handed Sai and Miller put on an excellent batting display putting on unbeaten 69 runs for the 4th wicket that helped GT post 200 for 3 in 20 overs.

Expensive bowling by RCB bowlers

Royal Challengers Bengaluru struggled with their bowling in hot weather. Swapnil Singh was most economical with 1 for 23 in 3 overs. Siraj also bowled decently with 1 for 34 in 4 overs.

Glenn Maxwell gave away 28 runs in his 3 overs that kept a lid on GT’s batting. Karn Sharma went for 38 runs in 3 overs while Green also went for 42 runs in his 3 overs. The onus will be on RCB batters to chase 201 runs and help them stay alive in the tournament.
