Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz launched three consecutive sixes in the second Super Over of their T20 World Cup 2026 clash against South Africa at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday, February 11. The wicketkeeper-batter came in with Afghanistan needing 24 runs from the final four balls.
After Keshav Maharaj dismissed Mohammad Nabi for a two-ball duck, Gurbaz held his composure and cleared long-off with a massive hit, keeping Afghanistan in contention. He followed it up with two more towering sixes to long-on and deep mid-wicket, stunning the crowd.
However, Maharaj’s wide delivery momentarily slowed the momentum, and on the next ball, he bowled a precise delivery that Gurbaz could only send straight to a fielder in the inner circle. In the end, it was a heartbreaking finish for Afghanistan.
