Rahul Dravid was on the minds of everyone when team India youngsters were dominating Australia in their backyard. The likes of Shubman Gill and Rishabh have all been groomed by Rahul Dravid during their U-19 career. Mohammed Siraj, Hanuma Vihari, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, and Prithvi Shaw also played under Dravid’s supervision before they made it to the national team.

After India’s historic Test series in Australia, several fans and experts acknowledged the contribution Rahul Dravid has made behind the scenes as coach of the U-19 and India A side. The upcoming India players never miss an opportunity to honour Dravid for being their mentor in the early phase of their career.

Rahul Dravid Responds After Being Credited For Team India’s Success

The former India captain has continued to do immaculate work even after his retirement and has played a key role in taking Indian cricket forward. Now, Dravid has reacted after being attributed for the success of the Indian cricket team. As usual, Dravid stayed away from taking the credit and pointed out that not him but the players deserve all the praise.

“Haha, unnecessary credit, the boys deserve all the praise,” Rahul Dravid told The Sunday Expres.

Meanwhile, the stars of India’s memorable win at Brisbane Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill both flourished under the guidance of Dravid when they played U-19 cricket. Pant scored an unbeaten 89 runs where Shubman Gill scored a counter-attacking 91 runs that helped India script a miraculous Test win and the series 2-1.

After retirement, Dravid served as the coach of India A and U-19 teams from 2015 to 2019. He left the job in 2019 and took over as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Furthermore, India received plaudits from all around the world after they went on to win back to back Test series in Australia. Even without Virat Kohli and other senior players the youngsters came to the fore and stunned Australia in the last 3 Test matches and created history.
