According to a report by US-based global investment bank Houlihan Lokey, Inc., the overall valuation of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has grown to USD 18.5 billion—a 12.9% increase from last year. The league’s standalone brand value also witnessed a 13.8% rise, reaching USD 3.9 billion.

In a notable shift, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who clinched their maiden title this season, have overtaken Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to become the most valuable franchise with a brand value of USD 269 million, up from USD 227 million last year.

CSK dropped to third place, with a marginal rise in valuation to USD 235 million from USD 231 million, after a lacklustre season where they finished at the bottom of the table. Mumbai Indians (MI) advanced from fourth to second place, now valued at USD 242 million, up from USD 204 million in 2024.

PBKS Lead Brand Value Growth; KKR, SRH Retain Strong Positions In IPL Rankings

Among all teams, Punjab Kings (PBKS) recorded the highest year-on-year growth with a 39.6% surge in brand value, followed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who saw an increase of over 34%. Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hold the fourth position with a brand value of USD 222 million, followed by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in fifth place at USD 154 million.

Delhi Capitals (DC) are ranked sixth, with their brand valued at USD 152 million. Rajasthan Royals (RR) occupy the seventh spot with a valuation of USD 146 million, while Gujarat Titans (GT), led by Shubman Gill and under new ownership since last season, are placed eighth with USD 142 million.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered the highest growth in brand value—up 39.6% to USD 141 million—thanks largely to their impressive performance as runners-up under new captain Shreyas Iyer. Despite being the most expensive franchise initially, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are ranked tenth with a brand value of USD 122 million.

“The IPL continues to set benchmarks in the sports business. Franchise valuations have soared, media rights deals have reached record highs, and brand partnerships have diversified across sectors,” commented Harsh Talikoti, director, Financial and Valuation Advisory at Houlihan Lokey.
