The young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been a dynamic figure ever since he bursts onto the international circuit. He has also done exceedingly well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) plying trade for Delhi Capitals. During his stint, Pant has worked with the legendary batsman Ricky Ponting from close quarters and recently opened up on his relationship with the former Australian skipper.

Pant recently witnessed a decline in his stocks losing the limited-overs spot to KL Rahul during the Australia series after getting hit on the head. Rahul stepped up to the job to cement his berth and since then, Rishabh Pant has been waiting in the wings for an opportunity. Although he was a part of the Test side playing ahead of Wriddhiman Saha against New Zealand but failed to make a mark.

Meanwhile, the cricketer from Delhi left an impression during the 2018 season of the IPL where he finished as the highest run-scorer for Delhi Capitals. Recently, during an Instagram Live session, Rishabh Pant labelled that year as the career-changing one. Speaking about his association, the youngster said that he had the freedom to express himself and also had the backing of head coach Ricky Ponting.

“He gives me a free hand. He says do whatever you want to do,” Pant said during an Instagram chat with his franchise.

Furthermore, Rishabh Pant also revealed the advice given to him by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. The former India skipper was the mentor of Delhi Capitals franchise in the 2018 season before taking up the role in BCCI last year.

“You need to give yourself some time and then you can do whatever you want to do. He always wanted me to do well. He told me a few things and I tried them also. It helped,” Pant concluded.
