The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced three squads for the upcoming tour of Australia. However, Rohit Sharma’s absence from all the squads was one of the sparkling topics of debate as soon as the squads surfaced. The swashbuckling batsman was left out on injury grounds, however, he can still make a come back to the squad.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma copped a hamstring injury during the ongoing IPL 2020 and didn’t feature in the last two matches for Mumbai Indians. Veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard led the team instead. Due to his injury, the selection panel headed by Sunil Joshi didn’t consider Rohit in any squad.

Rohit Sharma likely to come back to the Indian squad

In the wake of this, speculations riffed of Rohit pulling out of the remainder of IPL 2020. But all speculations were put to rest after Mumbai Indians shared a couple of photos of Rohit Sharma batting in the nets from their official social media handle.

Rohit Sharma batted for the first time on Monday since his injury and is expected to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad next week. Mumbai Indians, who are on the cusp of making it to the playoffs, will play their last league game against SRH on November 3 before the playoffs. Rohit can lead the side in that game. Meanwhile, this can open the door for returning to the national squad, a report in PTI suggests.

“If Rohit can play during the last week of IPL, that will be a good enough fitness test and then selectors can think of getting him back in the squad,” a source close to the MI captain was quoted as saying by PTI.
