[WATCH] Rohit Sharma’s First Appearance Since Test Retirement Goes Viral

Rohit Sharma, the star batter of the Mumbai Indians, returned to the field for the first time after retiring from Test cricket. His appearance in the nets quickly went viral, showing him training hard before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumed. Alongside teammates like Karn Sharma, Robin Minz, Ashwani Kumar, and Tilak Varma, Rohit was seen practising with focus and energy.

The IPL was temporarily suspended for a week due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. However, once a ceasefire was declared, the IPL governing council announced the tournament would restart on May 17. The final is scheduled for June 3, and the Mumbai Indians are set to face Delhi Capitals on May 21 at Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit’s Retirement and Leadership Speculation

Rohit Sharma had announced his retirement from Test cricket just before the Test series against England. His decision sparked discussions in the media about his future role as India’s captain. Despite the ongoing debates, Rohit chose to step away from the longest format of the game, focusing on limited-overs cricket and the IPL.

His dedication to the sport was clear in the training sessions, where he looked determined to contribute to his IPL franchise. The Mumbai Indians team has shown strong performance under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, with Rohit playing a key role in motivating and guiding younger players during training.

Mumbai Indians’ Performance and Upcoming Matches

Mumbai Indians are currently in fourth place on the IPL 2025 points table, having won seven out of their twelve matches and earning 14 points. One of their key performers has been New Zealand pacer Trent Boult, who is expected to rejoin the squad soon. Boult has taken 18 wickets in 12 matches, making him the team’s top wicket-taker and placing him joint fourth overall this season.

His standout performance was against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he claimed four wickets for 26 runs. The remaining 13 league matches will be hosted across six cities—Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The schedule for the playoff matches includes Qualifier 1 on May 29, the Eliminator on May 30, Qualifier 2 on June 1, and the grand final on June 3. The venues for the playoff matches are yet to be announced.
