“Run Faster Fatty” – An Old Tweet Of Yuvraj Singh About Rohit Sharma Gains Popularity During The 2023 Asia Cup

An old tweet by former Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh from 2010 about Rohit Sharma gained recent viral attention during the 2023 Asia Cup. Back in 2010, Rohit, who is now the current Indian captain, was a young talent trying to establish himself as a middle-order batsman in a star-studded team.

On June 23, 2010, Rohit, using his Twitter account (now X), shared that he had completed the final practice session before the Asia Cup 2010 final against Sri Lanka, scheduled for the next day. He also requested fans to send their best wishes to him and the team for the crucial match.

Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma have maintained a friendly bond since their time as teammates in the Indian cricket squad. In response to the tweet, Yuvraj playfully responded:

“Good luck run faster fatty @ImRo45.”

Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the Indian team emerged victorious in the match, securing the Asia Cup title with an 81-run triumph over Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma, batting at number five, was the second-highest run-scorer for his team, contributing 41 runs from 52 deliveries.

Dinesh Karthik, who opened the innings for India in this particular match, earned the Player of the Match accolade for his crucial half-century, scoring 66 runs that played a pivotal role in the victory.

Rohit Sharma has notched up three back-to-back half-centuries in the 2023 Asia Cup

Before the World Cup, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has rediscovered his ODI form by registering three successive half-centuries in the 2023 Asia Cup. He began with a modest 11 (22) in the initial group match versus Pakistan.

However, he swiftly regained his form with an outstanding player-of-the-match display against Nepal, amassing an unbeaten 74* (59). Sharma continued this momentum, contributing half-centuries in victories against Pakistan (56) and Sri Lanka (53). As of now, he leads the run-scoring charts after four matches.

The Indian captain has effectively guided his team in the Asia Cup up to this point. While the Men in Blue easily defeated Pakistan and Nepal, they encountered a resilient Sri Lankan side.

Rohit Sharma exhibited strong leadership as his team successfully defended a modest target of 214 against the home team on Tuesday, September 12th. Following the match, Rohit Sharma shared his thoughts on the victory, stating:

“Was a good game for us, to play a game like that on a challenging pitch. We got challenged and it was good. It was a challenging pitch and we want to play more on these kinds of surfaces.”

“He has worked really hard on his bowling for the past few years. He has been consistently clocking 140 kph. It takes time. It looked like he could take a wicket every ball.”
