Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has been hugely impressed by how Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have flourished in the T20I series against England. Both have scored fifties in their debut innings in T20 international cricket for India and both have been match-winning ones. having seen both the players do well in national colors, Tendulkar feels both of them can be a part of India’s World T20 squad for the mega event later this year.

The Indian thinktank is in the process of choosing the best possible squad and is treating the current series against England as a preparatory series for the same as well. Meanwhile, speaking to ANI, Sachin Tendulkar said that both Surya and Ishan are good enough players to play in the World T20 later this year.

Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan Ready To Play In World T20: Sachin Tendulkar

“It eventually boils down to selection and the selection committee. But I can say that having played in IPL against all the leading foreign players, they are ready to play (in the Twenty20 World Cup)” said Tendulkar.

The batting maestro spoke about how he has spent enough time with both the players to understand and comment about their game.

“They are very good players. I have spent a lot of time with Surya, he looked fantastic. Before the last IPL season, when Ishan was practising in the nets, there were a number of things which one could see. He was trying to get his bat swing (right), and be mentally stable. From there on, how he has progressed is remarkable” said Tendulkar.

While Suryakumar has scored over 1000 runs for Mumbai Indians in the last two seasons in the IPL, Kishan scored 516 runs for the franchise last year.

Another important point which he touched upon was picking the best possible side and not making age a hindrance in the selection of players who are consistently performing.

“One thing I would like to clarify here is that it is not just about picking youngsters. It is about picking capable players, you are talking about the Indian cricket team, age should not be criteria. It is about what you can deliver and that is what matters, not age. If somebody can perform and may not be a young cricketer, but if you can perform you should be playing for India” concluded Sachin.
