There is no denying to the fact that any sport requires strategies to win the particular contest. Likewise, the game of cricket has witnessed numerous of strategies being applied by the players over the years. A few of them gets highlighted while few of them stays inside the team. Speaking about them, Sachin Tendulkar revealed a plan, which he drew for Glenn McGrath of Australia.

In that famous game in Nairobi, Tendulkar got India off to a flying start as he scored 38 runs off 37 balls, with the ball moving all over the place. Knowing that McGrath could skittle the Indian side if he found his rhythm.

After a talk with Ganguly, Tendulkar counter-attacked him, throwing him off his immaculate line and length. The opening partnership of 66 in 11.4 overs set the stage for India to post a good score of 265/9. India went on to win the tense game by 2 runs as Australia were bundled out for 245 after slow-over rate rule was applied.
“I cannot forget the match against Australia in the ICC Champions Knockout Trophy in Nairobi in 2000 as well. The wicket was once again damp and not a very easy one to bat on. There was plenty of life on the surface,” Sachin told cricket.com in an interview.
“The way McGrath bowled the first over, I spoke to Sourav Ganguly and suggested that I go after McGrath. I realised we have to do something out of the box I exchanged a few words with him which took him by surprise. And also, I started playing shots against him, though some of them were risky,” Sachin added.
Over the years, Sachin Tendulkar and McGrath share a celebrated rivalry and the former Indian batsman had great encounters with the Australian bowler. They both retired as one of the best players to produce to the world cricket from their respective countries.
