Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar was excited to see two young Indian cricketers Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav making their T20I debuts for Team India together. India won the toss and elected to field as the two youngsters were roped into the team in place of Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel. India lost the first game in a rather one-sided contest dominated by the visitors. The two youngsters were roped in to lengthen India’s batting line-up.

Meanwhile, talking to ESPN Cricinfo, Sanjay Manjrekar shared his thoughts on Ishan and Suryakumar’s T20I debut. While Ishan scored a match-winning 56 on debut, Surya did not get his chance with the bat.

Great To See Young Talent In Form: Sanjay Manjrekar

“Always great to see a young talent at the top of his form and confidence; maybe Dhawan is a little unlucky; however, from Indian cricket’s point of view, nice to see Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav go for India,” Manjrekar said to ESPN Cricinfo.

India dropped Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel to give these two their maiden T20I appearances together. While Suryakuma has been consistently performing for Mumbai Indians in the last three IPL seasons, Kishan’s 516-run season with Mumbai brought him to the spotlight.

Kishan scored a match-winning 56 in the second T20I to help India win the game. he added a 93-run stand with skipper Virat Kohli for the second wicket.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar thought that Dhawan was unlucky to be dropped after just one game. He scored 4 runs in the first T20I and was shown the door.

“It’s a little unfair that Shikhar Dhawan got only one game. I don’t know what India’s long-term plans are for him, but I don’t think Virat Kohli cares about giving players a long run and expects players to recover after being dropped for a game and come back and be at their best.” Manjrekar rounded off saying.
