India handed T20I debuts to Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan in the second T20I being played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. India won the toss and elected to field as the two youngsters were roped into the team in place of Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel. India lost the first game in a rather one-sided contest dominated by the visitors. The two youngsters were roped in to lengthen their batting line-up.

The BCCI posted a video of Virat Kohli presenting the India cap to Ishan Kishan, while Ravi Shastri presenting it to Suryakumar, who even waved it to his teammates’ appreciation. Both the youngsters have consistently scored in the IPL and domestic cricket in the last two to three seasons and deservedly made it to the playing XI.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli was criticized by cricket experts for not handing Suryakumar Yadav his T20I debut after he was expected to play in the game. India also rested Rohit Sharma and the move badly backfired. Rohit has been rested for the second game as well as India is still keen on making experiments with the side in search of their best combination.

Virender Sehwag criticised Virat Kohli for resting Rohit in the first game. He said that Virat Kohli is not resting himself while making players like Rohit rest who are in form. Speaking to Cricbuzz Live, Virender Sehwag targeted Kohli saying that Rohit Sharma will be on a break for the first two games but dies the same rule apply to the skipper himself.

“It was said that Rohit Sharma will take a break in a couple of matches, but does this rule apply for Virat Kohli as well. As a captain, I don’t think he comes and says that I will take a break for the next two or three matches. I don’t remember a time captain Kohli has taken a break by himself. If the skipper is not taking a break, so how does he give others the break? That should depend on the player,” Sehwag said on the show.
