Former Australian spinner and coach of the London Spirit’s in The Hundred Shane Warne has tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. He has become the third person to test positive in the competition. Andy Flower, who was coaching Trent Rockets, is already in isolation after testing positive. A report in ESPNcricifno suggests that one more member of London Spirit has tested positive for the infection. Meanwhile, Warne has been asked to stay in isolation after testing positive.

Shane Warne’s team London Spirit are at the bottom of the points table with three losses from four games. They are the only team to lose their first four games in the tournament so far. Trent Rocket, Manchester Originals and Welsh Fire are the top three team in the league stage so far.

London Spirit is led by Eoin Morgan and the team is unable to find ways to win. The Hundred’s men’s and women’s competition kicked off in the 3rd week of July and is running parallel to the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Meanwhile, cricket fans are allowed to come to the stadiums to watch The Hundred. As per reports from the Lord’s Cricket Ground officials, the London Spirit women’s fixture against Southern Brave women was seen by 15,189 people, which is a record in modern-day women’s domestic matches.

Meanwhile, the format is the most recent one in the game of cricket with 100 balls per innings. The purists of the game are not in favour of the format and how it is being played out. Former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Ian Chappell have heavily criticised the format. While Gavaskar termed the format as ‘Insipid’, Chapell said that the T20 format was enough to take the game of cricket to the Olympics. The final of the tournament will be played on August 21 at Lord’s in London.
