Shreyas Iyer Has Got The Potential To Lead India – Alex Carey
Alex Carey has played 28 T20I matches for Australia.

Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey is in all praise for his Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer as he reckons that he is going to be a fantastic leader in the near future. As a leader of a young pack, Shreyas Iyer has turned around things for the Capitals franchise in no time which has been quite evident in the last couple of IPL seasons.

Ever since taking over from Gautam Gambhir, midway through the 2018 season he has managed to finish third in 2019 and runners up in the 2020 season which is a phenomenal achievement for the youngest captain in the IPL. Which makes Shreyas Iyer a bright prospect for Team India in the near future since he has been delivering results as a skipper and at the same time has also been piling up the runs with his bat.

‘Shreyas Iyer Has Got The Potential To Lead India’ – Alex Carey

Alex Carey believes that Shreyas Iyer will lead India one day as he sees fabulous leadership abilities in Shreyas. The Australian wicket-keeper batsman underlined that Shreyas focused more on the entire team as a whole rather than just focusing on himself.

“No doubt he’s got the potential to lead India one day. I think Shreyas is going to be a fantastic leader moving forward. His ability to connect with all the players in the group was fantastic. He took the focus off himself and worried more about the group. He’s been really successful for the last couple of seasons for Delhi,” Carey said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Alex Carey said that the Mumbai batsman is an extraordinary individual, who is as yet learning the subtleties of captaincy. The inspirational demeanour and his association with head coach Ricky Ponting fascinated him.

“He’s still young and learning his crafts. He’s a fantastic batsman and a great person as well. To connect with every player in a big squad like Delhi is quite a tiring task but he was excellent in managing that. His positive attitude towards the game and his partnership with Ricky really worked well for us. The future is very bright for him,” the 28-year old added.
