Shubman Gill once again dazzled everyone with the bat in the last innings of the SCG Test. The highly talented batsman batted with ease against the great fast-bowling trio of Australia. Gill executed some eye-catching strokes in his brief knock but none better than the backfoot punch against Pat Cummins.

The number 1 Test bowler bowled a perfect length delivery to Gill which he timed to perfection. Gill stayed on the backfoot and executed an elegant backfoot punch that had everyone in awe. Cummins was bowling beautifully in the spell but Gill waited for his opportunity to pounce and score runs.

After a few overs, he finally got a back of length delivery that he sent to the extra cover fence. The back foot punch seems to be Gill’s favourite stroke as he has played it numerous times in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar trophy. Cummins didn’t do much wrong with the delivery it was just the class of Gill who made it made into a boundary ball.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma were batting splendidly while chasing a mammoth target of 407 against Australia. Unfortunately against the run of play, Hazelwood dismissed Gill as his promising knock came to an end. The ball pitched around off stump which Gill looked to drive but could only nick it to wicket-keeper Tim Paine.

Shubman Gill was removed on 31 as Australia ended the 71 runs partnership between him and Rohit Sharma. It was just the strike Australia needed as post that wicket bowlers found a rhythm again and troubled the Indian batsmen.

Furthermore, India got a body blow when late in the day Australia got the prized scalp of Rohit Sharma. The hosts bounced out Rohit who was looking all set 52 runs. Cummins banged in short which Rohit top-edged to the deep fine fielder Mitchell Starc.

India ended the 4th day of the Test match on 98 for 2 as they still require 309 runs to win the match.
