Suryakumar Yadav once again performed brilliantly in the 2nd ODI match against Sri Lanka at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The star batsman scored an amazing half-century while batting at number 5 for the Indian team. Surya finished his innings at 53 off 44 deliveries.

The 30-year-old smashed 6 fours in his marvelous innings. Ahead of the match, he talked about playing the role of a finisher in the first ODI. Also, he mentioned that he can bat at any position demanded by the Indian team.

Mumbai Indians star batsman Surya said he enjoyed playing the role of a finisher in the first ODI. Also, he said that his passion for the game allows him to bat at any position for the team.

“Enjoyed it completely (on playing a finisher’s role). I’ve been doing the same thing for the last two years, and just looked to bat like how I do in the nets. I think the passion for this game kept me going,” Yadav said while speaking to the broadcasters ahead of the second ODI on Tuesday.

“I have been bowling as well, and am ready if the captain asks me to. I have batted at every batting position possible, and I have been playing at number three in the T20s. But I am ready to bat wherever the team management wants me to,” he added.

While talking about his debut Surya expressed his disappointment about the absence of his family. Surya’s family members were unable to join the batter in his first international game due to the covid situation. Notably, 30-year-old Surya made his international debut for India in the recent T20I series against England.

Adding to it Surya didn’t get a chance to bat in his first match. However, Surya impressed everybody with his performance in his debut innings. He hit the amazing-looking six in his first ball and smashed a fifty batting at number 3.

“My dad kept telling me to stay patient and that the opportunity would come. It was emotional to receive that cap, but disappointed that the family wasn’t here because of the covid situation,” the 30-year-old signed off.
