Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh had created history in 2002 by claiming a memorable hat-trick at Eden Gardens Stadium in what was later to be known as one of Team India’s greatest victories against Australia. 21 years down the line, Harbhajan Singh will be turning up for the Kolkata Knight Riders but won’t be playing a single game at their home ground Eden Gardens.
Since this season, none of the sides will be playing at their home venues to rule out the home advantage for every side this season. Kolkata Knight Riders will be playing all of their matches at Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad with them kickstarting their campaign on 11th April 2021 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai.

‘Eden Gardens Is A Special Ground For Me’ – Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh who was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL 2021 auction after being released Chennai Super Kings recently said that there will be a small regret with KKR not playing a single match at their home venue Eden Gardens which has been a memorable ground for the off-spinner.
“I have very good memories from Eden – Test cricket, ODI cricket – whatever cricket I have played there, even the two titles we had won there for the Mumbai Indians. That is a special ground for me and there will be no cricket there, that small regret will be there but it is an opportunity for me as a player to just go out and be happy about playing cricket,” Harbhajan told Star Sports.

In the followup, Harbhajan Singh said he’s looking forward to playing in the IPL since its happening in India and in another country like UAE like it happened during the 2020 edition. He further added how he’s eagerly waiting for the IPL to begin since he himself only plays in the IPL nowadays.
“Whether the match is in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai or Mumbai, I am feeling good that the IPL is happening in India and we are not going to Dubai or any other place because it is our festival and as a player, I am looking forward to it. IPL is a tournament that everyone waits for, whether it is the players or the spectators. For a player like me who only plays the IPL, the desire to play is going to get fulfilled,” he said.
