Cricket South Africa Director of Cricket Graeme Smith announced on Thursday that South Africa will welcome India during the 2020/2021 season in what he described as “a full tour” which will include three Test matches. The tour will also include three ODIs and four T20Is between December 17-January 26.

The test series between the two sides will be a part of the ongoing second edition of the ICC World Test Championship. India is currently topping the points table and South Africa is not within the top five as yet.

Two Tests will be played in Johannesburg, from 17 to 21 December and from 3 to 7 January. Centurion will host the second Test from 26 to 30 December. The Test series will be followed by a white-ball series between January 11 to 27 which will include three ODIs and four T20Is.

Ahead of the India series, South Africa will host the Netherlands for a three-match ODI series between November 26-December 1. After the India series, South Africa are scheduled to travel to New Zealand for two Tests and three T20Is. The summer will conclude with three ODIs and two Tests against Bangladesh from March 18 to April 9.

Meanwhile, South Africa have announced their squad for the T20 World Cup to be played in the UAE later this year. Senior players like Faf Du Plessis and Imran Tahir have not been included. Keshav Maharaj, who is yet to make his T20I debut has been picked in the squad. However, in 104 T20s, the left-arm spinner has 83 wickets at a strike rate of 26 and an economy of 6.62.

Victor Mpitsang, CSA Convenor of Selectors is confident that Temba Bavuma, who recently copped up an injury will recover in time to lead the side in the global T20 event.

“The team has blossomed well under the leadership of Temba Bavuma and we look forward to seeing his return to the international stage once he is fully recovered from injury,” he added.

South Africa will take on Australia in the first game of the Super 12 stage on October 23 in Abu Dhabi.
