Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Maharashtra-born opener, is in the form of his life. He played an instrumental role in IPL 2021 helping his franchise Chennai Super Kings win their 4th title. He finished as the top run-scorer in the tournament hammering 635 Runs in 16 matches, including a century against Rajasthan Royals.

He continued his run-scoring spree in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy amassing 603 in 5 matches at an average of 150.75, including 4 hundred and finished as the leading run-scorer in the tournament.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is expected to open the innings along with captain KL Rahul. He will hope to continue the good run in the international arena. With stiff competition for the opener’s berth, Gaikwad will look to put some good performances to be on the good books of the India selectors.

#1 Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer has been hogging the headlines since his IPL debut in IPL 2021. He played a key role in his team KKR reaching the finals of the 2021 IPL, scoring 370 runs in 10 matches at an average of 41.11 while also picking up 3 wickets with his medium-pace bowling.

Team India has been looking for a fast-bowling all-rounder since the retirement of legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev. India have had Hardik Pandya but he has been troubled by injury issues of late. With Hardik Pandya out of the side, the team management would be looking for a fast-bowling all-rounder who can hit a few balls out of the park ln the lower order and bowl a few overs if and when required.

Iyer Has shown that he can bat in various positions while playing for Madhya Pradesh in the domestic circuit in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and he is a handy bowler too. If he can consistently give Team India 5-6 overs with the ball and do the role of 6th bowler, he can be a huge asset for the team.
