South African batting icon AB de Villiers was spotted in the stands at Lord’s on Day 3 of the 2025 WTC final, capturing the moment Aiden Markram reached his century. Wearing South Africa’s Test jersey, de Villiers showed his support as Markram brought up a brilliant hundred in the fourth innings against Australia.
Markram remained unbeaten on 102 off 159 balls, striking 11 fours. As the batter reached his milestone, de Villiers raised one hand in celebration while filming the moment with his phone in the other, applauding the outstanding knock from the stands. You can watch the moment here:

AB de Villiers, one of South Africa’s finest, represented the country in 114 Test matches. He amassed 8,765 runs at an impressive average of 50.66, including 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries.
Proteas In Control As Markram’s Ton Sets Up Day 4 Showdown
As Day 4 of the 2025 WTC final approaches, South Africa find themselves in a dominant position, needing just 69 more runs with eight wickets in hand to secure the title. Set a target of 282, the Proteas were guided by a superb unbeaten century from Aiden Markram, who has put his team firmly in control of the Test.
Markram stood tall with 102* at the close of play, but his knock was well supported by skipper Temba Bavuma, who contributed a gritty and valuable 65* off 121 deliveries despite dealing with a hamstring injury. After losing Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder early, South Africa found stability through this resilient pair.
Markram and Bavuma’s unbeaten 143-run stand took South Africa to 213/2 by stumps on Day 3, putting them in full control of the chase. With momentum on their side, the Proteas are firm favourites to win their first WTC title, while Australia need something remarkable to turn it around.
