Sri Lanka will take on Pakistan in the 2nd and final Test match to be played at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo from 24th July onwards. Pakistan started the 2023-25 ICC World Test championship cycle with a 4-wicket win played at Galle International Stadium, Galle.
Pakistan skittled out Sri Lanka for 312 runs in the first innings. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Abrar Ahmed picked 3 wickets each. Saud Shakeel’s brilliant 208 not out and sensational partnership with Salman Agha put the pressure back on Sri Lankan bowlers taking a substantial 149 runs lead.
Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed grabbed 3 wickets each while Salman Agha and Shaheen took 2 wickets each to bowl out Sri Lanka for 279 runs in the second innings. Despite some wobble, Pakistan won the test match on of final day by 4 wickets.
On the other hand, Dhanajaya de Silva and Mathews were rescued from a tough situation helping Sri Lanka to post 312 runs in the first innings. It was a disappointing bowling effort as Ramesh Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya looked ordinary reducing Pakistan to 101 for 5.
The second innings saw Madhushanka looking impressive with a maiden Test fifty and Dhanajaya de Silva put on another brilliant knock of 82. Despite their efforts, Sri Lanka lost the match by 4 wickets.
