Steve Smith produced magical innings as he equalled Don Bradman’s centuries. He achieved this remarkable feat during the second day of the first Test match against West Indies to be played at Optus Stadium, Perth on 1 December 2022.

Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first. Steve Smith came to the crease after Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne added 142 runs for 2nd wicket. Smith showed his class by putting enough pressure on West Indies bowling along with Smith.

Steve Smith looked impressive with his shots keeping the momentum going for Australia. He completed a half-century off 75 balls. Marnus Labuschagne and Smith continued to dominate West Indies. Australia ended the first day in a strong position at 293 for 2. Steve Smith remained not out on 59.

Smith looked in great touch on the second day also not allowing West Indies bowlers to settle. Smith smashed the opponents’ bowlers with ease completing his 29th century off 180 balls. Marnus Labuschagne and Smith added 251 runs for the third wicket. Smith equalled the record by Don Bradman in Test matches.

Steve Smith hammered the West Indies bowling remaining not out on 200 off 317 balls with 17 fours. Australia declared their innings with mammoth total scoring 598 for 4.

Don Bradman scored his 29th century in his 51st Test match against England at Leeds in July 1948. Steve Smith returned to his great form as he scored an unbeaten 145 in the second Test match against Sri Lanka played at Galle in July this year.

Steve Smith has the highest centuries among Fab Four

Steve Smith has scored the most centuries in Test matches among the Fab Four. Virat Kohli hit 27 centuries in 102 Test matches, Kane Williamson 24 centuries in 188 Test matches, and Root with 28 centuries from 125 Test matches.

Smith is third among the fewest innings to score 29 Test centuries. He would be looking to continue his impressive form in the remaining home season including 1 Test match against West Indies and then 3 Test matches against South Africa.
