The Delhi Capitals franchise has had a serious turnaround of things in this season’s Indian Premier League but Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar still believes that Delhi Capitals will qualify for the playoffs. The side led by Shreyas Iyer had a magnificent start to this season as they won 7 out of the 9 games they played at first then followed by which they lost four back to back matches when they were on the verge of qualifying for the playoffs.

It truly has been a collapse of epic proportions for the Delhi Capitals franchise this season. While Kings XI Punjab have gone on to win five back to back matches this season then there is also a sid like Delhi Capitals who have now gone on to lose four on the trot when they were regarded as one of the first sides who will qualify for the playoffs.

DC, RCB and MI will qualify for the playoffs – Sunil Gavaskar

Former India opener and commentator Sunil Gavaskar who is currently commentating in the ongoing IPL recently opined that despite Delhi Capitals losing 4 consecutive matches, they will eventually qualify for the playoffs. He said that Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals will surely qualify.

“My three teams, which will qualify are DC, RCB, and Mumbai Indians. These are the three that will qualify,” said Sunil Gavaskar on Star Sports show Cricket Live.

He further opined that the competition for fourth place will be a close encounter between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab as the two look very close to qualifying. It all will eventually go down to the net run rate as it is expected that close to four teams this season will end up on 14 points.

“And I think it is going to be pretty close between RR and Kings XI, these are the two teams, out of which you will get the fourth team,” he added.
