IPL 2020: Kevin Pietersen Takes A Dig At ECB For Wishing Archer, Stokes Good Luck

Former England Cricketer Kevin Petersen has taken a dig at the England and Wales Cricket Board for apparently wishing their countrymen Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes best of luck for their encounter against Kings XI Punjab.

The two Englishmen Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes are currently plying their trade in the Indian Premier League for the Rajasthan Royals franchise. As we all are aware the English cricket board is not really in favour of its players participating in the IPL as it collides with their first-class domestic competition. The ECB over the years has been reluctant and have been more often than not discouraging their players from participating in the cash-rich league.

Kevin Pietersen Takes A Dig At England & Wales Cricket Board

Kevin Pietersen took a dig at the England and Wales Cricket Board after they tweeted,

“Good Luck to our lads in today’s huge IPL Game” as the Kings XI Punjab were all set to lock horns with the Rajasthan Royals at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The former England batsman took a dig by saying,

“Just imagine, IMAGINE this tweet 8/9 years ago…! I’m so happy these guys are benefitting positively from the IPL!”

In the past, we have seen how Kevin Pietersen’s fall out with the cricket led to an end to his international career. When the former batsman opined that the IPL would help its players immensely in the development of the game, he was laughed down by saying the latter is after the big money that is being offered in the league.
Now recently when Ben Stokes spoke to UAE’s local newspaper Gulf News, he credited Kevin Pietersen for opening the doors for English players to feature in the Indian Premier League which has benefited them immensely in the process of becoming better cricketers in the long run.
