Previous Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) owner Vijay Mallya recently shared a picture of himself with the Universe Boss, none other than Chris Gayle. The Jamaican superstar had joined the RCB squad, back when Mallya was the co-owner of the franchise. Gayle had several worthy moments with the franchise, during his time.
Mallya, via his official Twitter handle, posted the picture and has written, “Great to catch up with my good friend Christopher Henry Gayle @henrygayle, the Universe Boss. Super friendship since I recruited him for RCB. Best acquisition of a player ever.”

Meanwhile, Mallya is accused of fraud and money laundering in India, allegedly amounting to around Rs 9,000 crores. The former member of the Indian parliament is currently in the United Kingdom (UK) on bail. Mallya, the businessman had bought RCB for a massive price of USD 111.6 million, back in 2008.
Chris Gayle’s IPL Career
Chris Gayle had joined RCB in 2011 and represented the team till 2017. Gayle, with his explosive batting knocks for the team, had been an integral part of the tournament history. For RCB, He has smashed 3420 runs in 91 innings, at an average of 43.29, and a strike rate of 154.40, including 21 fifties and 5 glorious tons.
Gayle, later on, was signed by Punjab Kings (Kings XI Punjab then) for INR 2 crore, in the IPL 2018 auction. Overall, the 42-year-old has featured in 142 IPL innings and has amassed 4965 runs at an average of 39.72 and a strike rate of 148.96. He has notched 31 fifties and 6 centuries, till now.
Although Gayle pulled himself out of the IPL 2022 mega auction, considering the bio bubble fatigue, later, in an interview, he went on to reveal that he felt not being treated and respected properly. Gayle has stated that he will be available for the next season.
