Suryakumar Yadav made his international debut earlier this year against England. His stint in the IPL 2019 and 2020 with Mumbai Indians paved his way for his international debut. He has played with Virat Kohli and also against MS Dhoni in his cricket career. Surya is one of the most established IPL cricketers in the past few years and has delivered at a good level of consistency. 

India batsman Suryakumar Yadav recently took to social media to interact with his fans and participated in a Q&A session. The right-handed batsman’s response to describe Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in one word hogged much limelight. He described Kohli as ‘inspiration’ and Dhoni as a ‘legend’ with his astute one-word replies.

Surya will be crucial for India in their upcoming tour to Sri Lanka. With all the senior players busy with international commitments in England, the Mumbai Indians batsman will be a key figure in the Indian middle-order. The squad for the Sri Lanka tour has not been named yet. 

However, the BCCI have a good number of players to choose from. With their experience of playing IPL cricket, the players have got themselves adjusted with the expectations from fans. Along with Suryakumar Yadav, the likes of Ishan Kishan, Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar and Prithvi Shaw has a good chance to make it to the squad. 

Shikhar Dhawan is likely to lead the side with the BCCI confirming Rahul Dravid as the coach of the Indian team for this particular trip. Indian head coach Ravi Shastri will be with the senior Indian team in the UK for the WTC final and the subsequent England series. 

As per reports in ESPN Cricinfo, the tour itinerary has been rearranged and reworked. As per SLC’s proposed itinerary to the BCCI, accessed by ESPNcricinfo, the series will commence with the ODIs on July 13, 16, 19 followed by T20I series on July 22, 24, 27. All the matches will be played in Colombo’s Premadasa stadium.
