‘Taliban Cricket Club’ Team In Rajasthan Banned After First Match

Taliban taking over Afghanistan has been making the headlines and has shaken people all over the world. The crisis situation in the country has left the future of cricket in Afghanistan uncertain.

Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, India a team “Taliban Cricket Club” ran into controversy due to its name. Taliban club took part in a tournament held in Bhaniyana village in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The organizers of the tournament stated that including the team in the tournament was a mistake and the team has now been removed.

A member of the committee said that the Taliban club was dropped after the first match in the tournament while a complete ban was put on the team and the players. The person apologized and added that they failed to notice the team’s name because of the online scoring system.

Afghanistan-Pakistan ODI series postponed

The ODI series between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been postponed. The decision was taken as no commercial flights are operating from Kabul due to the current situation in the country.

“After much deliberation, we have mutually decided to postpone the tournament, keeping the conditions and the mental health of the players in mind,” ACB CEO Hamid Shinwari told Sportstar on Monday.

Earlier, there were rumors about the series being shifted to Pakistan instead of Sri Lanka. However, Hamid Shinwari has refuted the claims. He said,

“The Pakistan Cricket Board and the Sri Lanka Cricket Board had supported us fully in terms of helping us with hosting the series, but in the current scenario, it is not possible to hold the series.”

He further added that as the series was part of the ICC’s qualifying league for the 2023 World Cup, the International Cricket Council has been informed about the decision.

“We have kept ICC in the loop and we will look at a possible date sometime before the 2023 World Cup,” Shinwari said.
