A Sourav Ganguly-led panel had a meeting with Indian skipper Virat Kohli in London. The BCCI President was in London during the Lord’s Test match to discuss about a few matters related to Indian cricket. One of them was Virat Kohli’s vision for the upcoming T20 World Cup The Indian skipper is under pressure to win his first ICC title and the upcoming ICC event is being seen as his biggest opportunity.

As per the latest reports, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah and vice-president Rajiv Shukla had an informal meeting with Kohli during the second Test match at Lord’s and various aspects regarding the global event were discussed.

“Yes, BCCI top bosses did meet Kohli but let’s say that it will not be fair to divulge the finer details of the discussion. But with very little time left for the T20 World Cup and India not having any games prior to the (IPL), the discussion was more about the roadmap going into the event,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by Mykhel.com.

The BCCI will need to select a 15-member squad which is why the UAE lef of IPL 2021 becomes a crucial phase for many players. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar amongst others will need to have a good season of they are to stake a claim for selection. One expects the UAE leg to be crucial for Shikhar Dhawan as well to play the T20 World Cup.

Another important aspect that was discussed in the meeting was the workload of the Indian pacers. Jasprit Bumrah. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj has played both the Test matches so far. With the likes of Sharduk Thakur, Umesh Yadav available for selection, it will be interesting to see if the team management is willing to rorate the bowlers around.

The IPL 2021 will be played from September 19 to October 15. The T20 World Cup then follows from October 17 to November 14 in the UAE as well.
