Team India is going through a great phase in world cricket. The depth in Indian cricket has allowed the Indian selectors to field two different teams at the same time. The Indian Test team is in England to play a five-match test series, whereas a limited-overs squad is in Sri Lanka.

While the Shikhar Dhawan-led limited overs team is playing the second one-day international at Colombo, the Indian test team is simultaneously playing a tour game in Durham. The test team looks solid on paper, despite the likes of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin opting to rest for the tour match.

Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has been left impressed by the bench strength of India. He took to Twitter to laud the depth in Indian cricket. Wasim Jaffer wrote:

“What a time to be an Indian cricket fan! There are 24 players playing for India in an ODI and a FC game right now. And Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Ishant, Shami aren’t in those 24. The depth is insane! PS: We have so many players that two are even playing for the opposition #SLvIND”

Sri Lanka post 275 runs in the 2nd ODI

The Indian limited-overs team won the first one-day international comfortably beating Sri Lanka by seven wickets. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan led the team from the front and was well supported by Ishan Kishan. But it was the opener Prithvi Shaw, who stole the limelight with his 24-ball 43 runs knock.

In the second one-day international, the Indian has managed to restrict Sri Lanka to 275 at the end of the first innings. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal picked three wickets each.

India suffer a top-order collapse in Durham

As far as the tour match against County XI is concerned, the Indian team is in a spot of bother with India four down at 119. Both the openers – Rohit Sharma (9) and Mayank Agarwal (28) are back in the hut along with Cheteshwar Pujara (21) and Hanuma Vihari (24).

Wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are at the crease to stabilize the Indian innings.
