Dale Steyn makes a huge statement after SRH sacks skipper David Warner

Former South African pacer Dale Steyn has made a huge statement after David Warner was sacked as Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper midway through IPL 2021. SRH won just one game under Warner’s captaincy in the first half of the tournament. They are placed last in the points table and need a big turnaround if they are to make the playoffs. SRH has also made it to every playoff season since 2014 under Warnerhaving won the title in 2016.

Talking to ESPN Cricinfo, Steyn made a big comment on David Warner’s future with the IPL franchise. Warner is the fifth on the list of IPL’s highest run-getters, the only batsmen to score fifty half-centuries in the tournament and a three-time Orange Cap winner, the most by any player.

Might Be The Last Time We Saw David Warner In An SRH Shirt: Dale Steyn

“It’s strange that he isn’t a part of the playing eleven. It’s understandable if they want to change ownership of captaincy for the next season, and keep Kane there. But David is still a phenomenal batter and I would still keep him in the eleven. But this might be the last time we see Warner in the Orange Army,” Steyn told ESPNCricinfo.

Though Tom Moody clarified that Warner’s change was more tactical than anything else, Dale Steyn said that there might be some issue between Warner and the SRH management that is not known to the public or the media.

“I don’t know if David may have questioned some of the decisions, maybe when Manish Pandey was left out. Sometimes, the management doesn’t appreciate that, I guess. The captain of the team also needs to take ownership of his squad and who’s going out on the field. Seems like there’s definitely happening something behind closed doors, the public is not aware of,” mentioned Steyn.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their first game under new skipper Kane Williamson against Rajasthan Royals. They were handed a 55-run defeat chasing 221 for victory. The Royals have moved upto the fifth position courtesy of their third win in this campaign so far.
